Many people live in communities that, at least to some extent, practice traditional modes of life that date back thousands of years across Africa, particularly in Saharan regions like in Obinagu, Udi, Enugu State. It is a South-Eastern State, in Nigeria, West Africa. Just like in Obinagu Udi, people in Africa began to assemble in groups based on familial ties and shared needs as early as prehistoric times. Individual languages (like Igbo Language), cultures (like masquerade festivals), rituals, and religions arose in these groups. Despite the fact that periods of discovery and modernity have had an impact on traditional African ways of life, Africa is estimated to contain over 6,000 different peoples today. Many of these people continue to be influenced by their ancestral way of life's spirituality. Most Africans still identify themselves based on their ancestors' background, even after leaving their ancestral villages to live in cities. This is why up to date, anytime there is a masquerade/mmanwu/mmonwu festival in Obinagu, Udi, Enugu state, people come from far and wide to grace the occasion. It is a way of appreciating their ancestors as is practiced in many other Igbo communities across Nigeria. Enjoy the video
